The credit-card ban — and why it doesn’t reach offshore casinos
Since 11 June 2024, licensed Australian online wagering providers can’t accept credit cards or digital currency. That ban applies to licensed betting. Offshore casinos aren’t licensed here at all, so they aren’t covered by it, and they aren’t covered by any other Australian protection either.

Why a card deposit can still be declined
Several Australian banks decline or block payments coded as gambling, and some let you block gambling yourself in their app. A decline isn’t a casino error — it’s your bank applying its policy.
